Overnight visitor levies and social housing were included in today’s King’s Speech (13 May), which marked the state opening of Parliament and set out bills which the government intends to introduce in the coming months.

The ceremonial occasion came days after the results of local and devolved elections and amid questions over the future of prime minister Keir Starmer.
