Bath and North East Somerset’s new roads contract
0Bath and North East Somerset has signed a highways maintenance and improvements contract with VolkerHighways.
Beginning in April 2019, the contract will run for seven years, with a possible extension for a further three.
If it runs for the full period, it will be worth £70m.
The company will work alongside the council’s Highway and Traffic Service to provide routine and planned highway works, and an emergency response to road incidents.
Councillor Mark Shelford, cabinet member for transport and environment, said: “It is essential that all our critical services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner and this contract allows the council to maintain and improve its highway network, keep traffic flowing and make sure residents are kept fully informed when road works are under way.
The previous contract was with Skanska.
