Cosla calls for council tax replacement
0The leader of Scotland’s local authority representative body has demanded greater control of funding from Holyrood.
Cosla president Alison Evison said councils in Scotland need the ability to create multi-year budgets and a replacement of council tax in order to deliver services.
She told the group’s annual conference that they needed an end to ring-fenced budgets and something “closely relating to the replacement for the council tax and the progression of discretionary taxation”.
Evison said: “We are limited in the choices we can make to realise our vision because we are limited in the funding required.”
