Councils set to open brewery
0Lewes and Eastbourne Councils are set to open a micro-brewery business.
Having seen the explosion in the brewing sector, officials are set to use £5,000 to explore developing a brewery and develop efficiency in supply chains through local partnerships.
The council’s purchasing power would be used to help the joint venture and boost regeneration.
A report to councillors said: “The council recognises that to achieve the best outcome from the exploration of a micro-brewery it should consider doing so in partnership with other experts and community members.
“There are a number of highly successful brewery and distilling entities in and around the town and the council would benefit from their expertise.”
