Council solar farm provides £1.2m for services
0A local authority solar farm has generated more than £1.5m of income in three years – more than £100,000 more than expected.
West Suffolk Council bought the 12.4MW solar farm at Toggam Farm in Lakenheath for £14.5m in 2016.
After taking operating costs and recouping some of the capital used to buy the solar farm, the facility has provided £1.2m to fund services, the council said.
Cllr Sarah Broughton, cabinet member for performance and resources at the council said: “This is just one of the many ways the council is not only successfully reducing our impact on the climate but also creating an income stream to support services and other ambitions.”
