Edinburgh defends sitting on £2.6m legacy cash
0City of Edinburgh Council has defended its decision to hold contributions from construction projects.
An internal audit found £2.65m from Section 75 payments remain in its account.
Of that total, £790,000 is more than 10 years old.
The council argued progress has been made as the amount of contributions held back has been reduced from more than £7m in 2014 and that a further £67m has been collected and spent.
Planning convener Neil Gardiner said “We’ve made considerable progress since the audit was carried out but a further phase of work is now required.”
