Edinburgh mulls redundancies in bid to save £41m
0City of Edinburgh Council could make 300 people redundant in an attempt to save £41m.
Council leaders say that the recent draft budget by the Scottish government means that it needs to find £13m more in savings next year than previously anticipated.
A meeting of the council’s finance and resources committee will next week meet to discuss draft budget proposals for 2019/20.
Council leader Adam McVey said: “As we grapple with the additional demands on our services, we face significant financial challenges and are faced with some tough decisions as a result.
“But that doesn’t mean we’ve lost our ambition for our capital city or indeed our commitment to protect those services that we know our most vulnerable residents rely upon.”
