Government announces 11 new centres for rough sleepers
0The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has announced 11 rough sleeping hubs across England to be established by Spring 2019, with a further four due to follow next year.
The “Somewhere Safe to Stay” centres will cost £5m, with the money forming part of the government’s £100m Rough Sleeping Strategy announced in August.
The strategy announced the plan to halve rough sleeping by 2022 and eliminate it by 2027.
The centres will provide accommodation, specialist support, and carry out assessments of those sleeping rough or at risk of becoming homeless.
The 11 areas include West London, Liverpool and Bristol.
