Oxfordshire eyes land for infrastructure
0Oxfordshire County Council is set to buy land to enable the go-ahead of major infrastructure upgrades.
The council has approved infrastructure purchase powers for eight projects including two bridges and a dual carriageway.
Funding for compulsory purchase orders (CPO) will be secured through allocations from the government’s Housing and Growth Deal and the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF), although the council predicted landowners would settle before legal action was necessary.
A report to councillors said: “The ability to use CPO powers should help support the land negotiations and provide a greater confidence in achieving earlier agreements without having to resort to actually using the CPO powers sought.”
