A Somerset council has completed the £8.2m purchase of a retail park.

Sedgemoor District Council has published details of the acquisition of Street Retail Park in Street, which lies just outside its boundaries.

Income from the scheme, which boasts tenants including Home Bargains and Pets at Home, will fund public services.

In 2016, the authority bought 36 flats in Bridgewater for £1.7m through a standalone company.

The sale was completed in December 2018 but was not made public at the time due to commercial sensitivity.

The park is the second commercial investment which the council has made in the last three years.
