Scottish government launches £50m fund for town centres
0The Scottish government has set up a £50m fund to breathe life into struggling high streets.
The Town Centre Fund has been established in partnership with the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA).
The money will be allocated by local authorities according to the guidelines set out in the Town Centre Action Plan, which was first published in November 2013.
Launching the fund, Economy Secretary Derek Mackay said: “Town centres are facing challenges across Scotland in adapting to a changing retail climate, and it is important that we help them to diversify and adjust to overcome these challenges.
Fife will be the largest recipient of the money among Scottish councils with £4.3m from the fund to distribute to schemes in its area.
