The Scottish Government and the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA) have announced that £20.4m will be provided for regeneration projects from the Regeneration Capital Grant Fund in 2019/20.

Aileen Campbell, cabinet secretary for communities and local government, said: “I’m really pleased that 18 fantastic, community-led projects will benefit from this significant investment.

“Projects right across Scotland will receive support which will regenerate their local area by stimulating inclusive growth and supporting and creating jobs.”

The fund was developed by the government in partnership COSLA and the Scottish councils, and all 32 local authorities and their special purpose vehicles are eligible to make bids for funding.

An independent panel makes recommendations to the government and COSLA on which projects should receive support.

The panel met on 17 January to consider the sixth round of applications under the scheme, with the projects being announced on 7 March.

These include industrial start-up and incubator units in Motherwell, and the Torry Community Hub in Aberdeen.

The overall funding is aimed at creating or supporting 600 jobs.
