Social care cash should be aimed at ‘demand management’
0More of the £2bn in extra social care funding announced by government last year should be spent on reducing demand, according to a new report. The analysis by consultancy iMPOWER, found that only 8.5% of the funding has so far been used to fund activities to address demand issues. Stuart Lindsay, assistant director at the firm, said: “Our core argument is that the availability of additional funds gives councils and health providers an opportunity to move from coping with demand to managing it.”
