Wakefield’s £50m plan for renewal of Knottingley
0Wakefield Council has drawn up a £50m ten-year plan for the revitalisation of Knottingley.
The Knottingley Vision and Action Plan consists of 90 projects, of which nearly two-thirds are due to be delivered within two years.
The project will see the construction of 2,500 new homes and more than 200ha of new employment land over the full ten-year period.
The council’s cabinet will be asked to approve the plan at its March meeting.
Cllr Denise Jeffery, cabinet member for economic growth and regeneration, said: “The challenges are complex but I am confident that this plan will see a transformation of Knottingley into a vibrant place in which to live, work and enjoy leisure activities, achieving many successes for the people, businesses and the place.”
