Funding for cultural projects, museums and the creative industries has been given a £250m boost.

The culture secretary announced £125m will go on regional museum and library projects and around £90m will go to the Cultural Development Fund to boost regeneration that has creative or arts links.

The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport also committed to investing an additional £50 million each year for five years in culture and the creative industries across England to revitalise existing assets.

Fiscal devolution will require local audit arrangements that are even more robust than those that existed in the era of the Audit Commission, auditor general Gareth Davies has warned.
