Government accounts disclaimed for a third year on back of local audit crisis

The Whole of Government Accounts (WGA) have been disclaimed for the third consecutive year because of a lack of audit assurance over local authority finances in England.

The National Audit Office said there had been “some progress” since last year, with the government having taken action to introduce the local audit
