BCP seeks 7.4% council tax hike after ‘beyond brutal’ settlement

BCP Council has sought permission from government to increase council tax by 7.4% after being dealt a “beyond brutal” blow in the provisional finance settlement.

The council said the move would yield an additional £6.9m a year while leaving council tax levels 2.6% below the average for unitary authorities.
