Provisional finance settlement: £78bn for English councils in 2026/27 but SEND uncertainty remains

Councils will see an increase of over 23% in their core spending power compared to 2024/25 by the end of a three-year funding settlement announced today (17 December), according to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).
