‘Significant’ equal pay risks remain at Southampton despite ‘stabilised’ finances

Equal pay claims are a “significant risk” to Southampton City Council as the authority has faced an “immediate priority to avoid a section 114 notice” over the past year, according to a Local Government Association (LGA) corporate peer challenge report.

The report, which was considered by the authority’s Cabinet this week (27 May), stated that original forecasts of equal pay claims estimated at £52m
