The platform offers easy access to thousands of council documents, enabling users to easily benchmark their financial health against their neighboring local authorities.
MyCouncil allows authorities to compare their performance and financial planning to their peers whether by region or type, and to understand the underlying context behind the numbers.
How to use MyCouncil
Subscribers can navigate councils alphabetically, by authority type or by region. Once selected, users can view an authority’s medium-term financial strategy, section 25 report, treasury management strategy and capital strategy.
Once selected, users can view an authority’s major financial documents, while each council profile also features a fact sheet summarising key data such as core spending power, Band D council tax, capital financing requirement and usable revenue reserves.
A news panel to the left of the council fact sheet offers additional context, linking relevant Room151 reporting to help situate the data within broader local government finance trends.
MyCouncil is available exclusively to Room151 subscribers, with a subscription now including full access to Room151 news and the latest finance roles.
Soon to come, MyCouncil will include further deeper editorial and quantitative analysis to allow for direct comparisons between councils.
The Room151 editorial team will continue to interrogate the data, providing subscribers with trusted, specialist insight into the state of local authority finances.
