CIPFA chief warns against ‘threats and ultimatums’ as Musk-style ‘Doge’ launched for council

The chief executive of CIPFA has warned that “threats and ultimatums” risk damaging relationships between councillors and officers, following Reform UK’s announcement that it will roll out an Elon Musk-inspired Department of Government Efficiency (Doge) unit to look at “wasteful spending” by councils.
