‘Hugely disappointing’ settlement forces North Yorks 4.99% council tax rise

North Yorkshire Council has said it has little choice but to increase council tax by 4.99% next year in the wake of a disappointing settlement for rural authorities.

The authority warned that tough decisions would be inevitable after its core funding was reduced by at least £20m in last month’s provisional funding
