Moves made to ‘absolve’ new north Staffordshire unitary of Stoke’s existing £783m debt

The new north Staffordshire unitary council will need a government commitment to address existing debt to ensure it is “not financially dysfunctional from the beginning”, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council has suggested.
