Room151 Roundtable Report: LGPS place-based impact investing

The discussion around place-based impact investing within the LGPS is being reshaped, especially in the context of the UK government’s Fit for the Future reforms, which encourage pension funds to increase investment within their local and regional economies.

The Room151 LGPS place-based impact investing roundtable held in York, and sponsored by DunPort Capital Management, highlighted that while there is broad support for the principle of investing local capital to generate local benefits, significant questions remain around definitions, implementation, scale, governance, and the balance between fiduciary responsibility and social impact.
